The Cafe has fabulous views over Mt Buffalo, modern Australian food using the best local produce. The menu stretches from breakfast through lunch, with cakes in between. Think toasted granola with poached rhubarb and organic milk, or fig and hazelnut French toast with orange blossom honey for breakfast.

We like to use farm-gate produce, organic produce, and we like to support the local growers. We also sell a large range of local products including our own onsite hand made cultured butter.

Historically, the Myrtleford Butter Factory was a farmers’ co-operative. The Butter Factory takes a similar approach, having developed a close working relationship with the food producers of our region in North East Victoria. We draw upon the best farm-gate produce, and fly the flag to recognise the exceptional efforts of locals who are dedicated to raising free-range animals; producing clean, chemical-free fruits, vegetables and nuts; and who make artisan cheeses, breads and wines.

The Butter Factory is also about self-sufficiency. Many of the fruits and vegetables we use are grown in our own garden. We churn butter by hand, and make our own jams, relishes, preserves and sauces. What we can’t source locally, like a Chai tea blend, we make ourselves.

The Food

Bronwyn Ingleton has been working in Hospitality for nearly 35 years. Over this time she has held various positions in the corporate and private sector. Bronwyn left her last position with the US Consul General in 2008 to move to Myrtleford just after the arrival of her first Grandson, where would we be without our mums?

Breakfast is a specialty, served every day until 12pm. Locals and visitors can relax on the balcony looking over Mt Buffalo tasting local produce, eggs florentine with local smoked trout, potato fruit loaf, fresh juice and all the usual trimming with local free range eggs.

Lunch can be what ever you make of it, a smart casual affair with a quick glass of wine or a long three course meal with selected wine from our cellar. We use as much local produce as possible and showcase our own butter and buttermilk in many of our dishes. The menu reflects a more rustic provincale approach to cooking.
